Unfortunately the original and scenic character of the village centre is sometimes damaged due to various reasons. Below some examples.

Neglecting maintenance: the loss of a monumental farm.
This is what happended to the old farm of Calis on the Angerechtsweg 12. This old Saksian farm was one of the oldest farms of Blaricum and an offficial monument.

In 2007 it was in such a poor state that it was removed from the official list of monuments.

Fire: loss of a monumental farm due to arsonism.

Early in the morning of the 16th of august 2008 this old farm on the Middenweg burnt out completely.

This is what remained; hopefully the farm will be rebuilt.

New office space was built near the intersection Torenlaan - Raadhuisstraat.

This kind of cabin would probably be fine on an industrial site. It is inconceivable to me that a permit for this thing has been given. This is an example of how things should not be done!
