1959 NSU Quickly Cavallino The NSU Quickly Cavallino is probably the most sought-after Quickly model. I found this 1959 version on eBay, and did not have to think long - this one had to be added to the collection. The images in the auction showed some issues (missing, defective or incorrect parts) but the basis seemed very nice. And once you start a restauration for this, it will be expensive. The damage to the steering handles and the missing headlamp unit may indicate this bike has been in a collision - we'll need to make sure the front fork and it's mounting on the frame are checked for any dent or bends. The wish-list after an initial inspection: Must haves (new or used parts) Headlamp unit, complete - Found used Taillight unit, complete Buddyseat, complete Brake rod - Purchased used Steering lock License plate bracket Tire pump Tool set Needed new All emblems (tank, other) Cables Exhaust Inner & Outer tires Brake lining Drive chain Maybe's, restorable? Rear mudguard - Found restored Clip-ons (steering handles) - Found used Engine covers Haven't done any testing on the engine; with the amount of oil on the outside, it will get a complete overhaul anyway. And if not mounted yet, it will get the improved gear rods and 5-plate clutch. More later ...
